Balloons UK Terms & Conditions

  1. Ballooning requires ideal weather conditions, to check your flight is going ahead you must telephone the flight information line (number in voucher) to confirm the weather conditions and exact meeting times & place. You will be advised of the time to call this number when you book your flight date. Flight times do vary according to the season.

  2. When you have arranged your flight date, you may postpone and re-arrange your flight date up to 5 working days before this booked date. Cancellations of less than 5 working days cannot be accepted. If you do not give notice as above or fail to attend for a pre-arranged flight your flight/gift voucher will become invalid for use.

  3. We do not accept liability for any costs or expenses you incur if we postpone any flight or relocate any launch site where the reason for postponement or relocation is judged by the company or Chief Pilot to be necessary. Should a relocation of a launch site occur you would be expected to attend the alternative launch site. Failure to attend such relocation would render your voucher invalid for use.

  4. The company receives regular aviation weather forecasts from the Met Office; unfortunately they are not always accurate! So we do ask you to be understanding. If your flight is cancelled due to weather conditions and the weather turns out to be OK. Or if you are called out and the flight is cancelled on site. We will be as disappointed as yon are.


Our Obligation to You

  1. The voucher will entitle you to participate in a Hot Air Balloon Flight experience at a date, to be arranged or as dated on the "gift voucher" within 12 months of purchase including:
    • The preparation and inflation of the Balloon for flight (optional)
    • A flight of approximately 1 hour in a Hot Air Balloon
    • A commemorative flight certificate
    • The recovery of the balloon at the end of the flight

  2. The voucher is not redeemable for cash. Vouchers are transferable if notified in writing.

  3. Hot Air Balloon flights are completely dependant upon the weather and are regulated by the air navigation order. If in our judgment or for operational reasons we find it necessary to postpone or Relocate a flight at any time, we will give you as much warning as operational procedures allow of any postponement or re-locate. In order to ensure your safety or for any operational reasons we reserve the right to postpone or re-locate a flight at any time up to the time we launch; see booking flight clause 4

  4. It is intended that the balloon will be in the air for approximately 1 hour but the pilot has ultimate responsibility for deciding the duration and conduct of any flight and the appropriate time and place of any landing. We cannot guarantee that a flight will follow any particular direction.

  5. If we have to postpone your flight on At least six or more occasions (during the main flying season) and your voucher has reached the expiry date we will extend the validity period of your voucher to include the next three months of the main flying season which is March-October inc. If this extends the validity of the voucher into the flying season of the next year the voucher will also be valid for the intervening months.

  6. We will make a refund less 50% administration costs if it is certified by a doctor that there is no possibility that you will be or were medically fit to fly (other than by reason of pregnancy) during the validity period of your voucher.

  7. For reasons of pregnancy, vouchers will be suspended as soon as we have been informed of your pregnancy in writing. The remaining period of your voucher will be re-activated as soon as you inform us you are fit to fly or within 9 months of the suspension date whichever is soonest.

  8. Refunds in any other circumstances are at our discretion. All requests for refunds must be made in writing by the original purchaser to: Balloons UK, The Hawthorns, Great Haywood, Staffordshire ST18 0RA.

  9. We carry insurance cover against the risk of any injury or damage to passengers in accordance with international agreements covering air transport. All personal items belonging to you are carried at your own risk. The level of cover varies from time to time as a result of currency fluctuations but is unlikely to be more than two million pounds and maybe as low as one million pounds. If you do not consider that the amount of insurance cover would be adequate to compensate you for any loss for death or personal injury you should take out your own additional cover.

  10. We will not be liable for death or personal injury above the level of our insurance cover unless it has been caused intentionally or recklessly knowing damage would probably result.

Your obligation to us

  1. Your voucher is valid for 12 months (see validity dates on voucher). If your flight is not taken within that time you will lose the right to participate in a flight unless you have booked flights on six or more occasions during the main flying season (March-October inc) which we have postponed unless the voucher has been extended for some other reason.

  2. You must contact us within 3 months of the purchase date shown on the voucher quoting the booking number to register the voucher and you must book your first flight date during the main flying season or within 5 months of the start date whichever is the soonest. If you do not do so and do not take your flight within the validity period the voucher will expire at the end of its validity period and you will lose the right to a flight. We will not make any refunds in these circumstances.

  3. We are not qualified to express an opinion confirming that you are fit to fly and you must ensure that you are fit to fly. You must not fly if you are suffering from any serious medical condition or have recently undergone surgery unless you have a certificate of your fitness to fly from your doctor. You must not fly if you are pregnant or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

  4. Our paramount consideration is your safety and the safety of others participating in the flight and you must obey all requests and instructions issued by any of our representatives and take particular care to abide by any safety instructions given. The Pilot has complete discretion as to whether to allow you to take part in the flight and will refuse to allow you to do so if in his opinion you would be a risk to the balloon, other passengers or to yourself.

  5. You should wear such appropriate clothing as is advised to you in advance of the flight and as further detailed in our literature.

  6. This contract is made with "you" the person making the booking and you the passenger. It can be given to someone else providing you inform us in writing and we agree to accept that person. These terms & conditions will still apply and "you" in the terms & conditions will apply to all those persons.

  7. It is our intention that all the terms of the contract between us are contained in these terms & conditions and in associated documents issued by us. If you wish to rely upon any variation in these terms you should ensure that the variations are agreed in writing by us at the time of booking.
